As Cathedraes
Como vos amo ver ó cathedraes sosinhas,
A recortar o azul das noutes constelladas!
Erguidos corucheus, mysticas andorinhas,
- Ó grandes cathedraes do sol ensanguentadas!
Como vos amo ver, pombas alvoroçadas!
Ogivas ideaes, anjos de puras linhas,
E ó criptas sem luz, aonde embalsamadas
Dormem de mãos em cruz as santas e as rainhas!
Em vão olhaes o Ceu sagradas epopeias!
Flores de renda e luz, d'incenso e aromas cheias,
Aves celestiaes banhadas da manhã!
Em vão santos e reis, ó monges dos desertos!
Em vão, em vão resais, sobre os livros abertos,
- O Ceu por que chorais é uma ficção christã!
