Threads of Remembrance
a quilt of cloth a blanket of clouds
love and memories ominous and foreboding
spreads the grassy mall covers the evening sky
sheets, strips, fabric cold, dark, and gray
all color and design shade and shadow
obscures the reality screens the moon
blocks out the pain hides the stars
this shroud this curtain
grows larger daily drawn back by the wind
the light in the world reveals the eternal shine
dims and flickers of the heavens
reality of their passing aware of their parting
experience ends tide and time
memories linger ebb and flow
crashing waves delivers only
spraying haze bits, pieces
of remembrance fragments
driftwood, broken shells
remnants and wreckage scattered
of their passage on weathered rocks
