DIA INTERNACIONAL DA MULHER

PORQUÊ O DIA 8 DE MARÇO

neste dia, ano de 1857, as operárias têxteis de uma fábrica de Nova Iork entraram em greve, ocupando a fábrica, para reivindicarem e redução de um horário de mais de 16 horas por dia para 10 horas. Estas operárias que, nas suas 16 horas, recebiam menos de um terço do salário dos homens, foram fechadas na fábrica onde, entretanto, se declarara um incêndio, e cerca de 130 mulheres morreram queimadas.Em 1910, numa conferência internacional de mulheres realizada na Dinamarca, foi decidido, em homenagem àquelas mulheres, comemorar o 8 de Março como dia Internacional da Mulher". De então para cá o movimento a favor da emancipação da mulher tem tomado forma, tanto em Portugal como no resto do mundo.

A CELEBRAÇÃO DESTE DIA O QUE SE PRETENDE

Pretende-se chamar a atenção para o papel e a dignidade da mulher e levar a uma tomada de consciência universal do valor da pessoa, perceber o seu papel na sociedade, contesta e rever preconceitos e limitações que vêm sendo impostos à mulher.
