Talhando fechados rostos em escultura
Donde veio impertinente esta amargura
Que me dão sem perguntar se quero ter?
E no nascer da aurora mal fadada
Cresce na alma, entrelaçada hera
E beijo os lábios duma boca que não espera...

Não ter a vida traçada!
Junto minhas penas ás da guitarra
Neste chorar triste que me dá a mão
E testemunho o soluçar que nos desgarra...
Como é bizarra
Esta solidão!
E o povo nas lezírias da má sorte
Vai lavrando gestos frios de metal
Numa concepção sofrida que suporte
Este querer, este viver que é abismal.
Donde vem, porque é tão estranha?
Que parente tão lacrimal
Te deu a tristeza tamanha
E te chamou Portugal?
