A Barca de Caronte

Rema, ó Caronte, a tua barcaça
pelo Aqueronte no rumo do Hades
e no seu bojo estas almas levade
para a alegria ou para a desgraça

Vêde , ó Caronte, meu bravo barqueiro
antes das almas deixar embarcar
se te trazem os óbulos primeiro
Se não, as deixes, nas margens, vagar

Alguns vagarão por entre os narcisos
sob a penumbra deste purgatório
Já outros irão aos Campos Elísios

s'em suas vidas foram meritórios
Ao Tártaro vão os incircuncisos
Segue o destino, sem apelatório.
