Sales Pitch

Mad Mike is a businessman
with the devil’s grin.

“Have I got something for you.”
He pulls out a chrome silver
pistol, a talisman, gleaming
under the streetlight .

“It’s a compact twenty five
caliber, semi-automatic beauty.
You can hide it anywhere.”

He slips it into his pants.
“Look, no bulge.”
He places it in my hand
and I play with it,
sticking it into my
pants and jacket pockets,
and in my belt front
and back, practice
a quick draw.

“You can pull it out as easy
as flipping the finger
and squeezing the trigger
lets the sucker know
you mean it.”

Enticing and seductive,
beautiful and dangerous.

“It’s for only a hundred
and twenty-five dollars.”

I hand the gun back to him.

“How can you say no, to owning
the pocket sized power of God?”
