YO GUARDO TU SER PADRE
No me llenan tus títulos y honores,
me llenan tu hombría y tu entereza.
No interesan alcurnias ni laureles
me alcanza tu bondad y tu ternura.
Ni aun, aunque valoro, glorias reales
han saciado mi ser lleno de tu alma.
Pues debo decir que todo lo que añoro
fue tu acabado sentido de ser padre.
Eso es lo que atesoro y guardo,
lo demás… vanidad de vanidades.
