Ah, esta praia amena!
Este sol no horizonte surgido
Despertam meu verso adormecido
Traçado a bico de pena.

Verso de amor, pequeno,
Unido a outro já esculpido,
É tal e qual a flecha de Cupido
Ferindo um coração sereno.

Ah, mar de praia dourada,
Das moças de tantas formosuras,
De navegadores e das torturas
De uma raça capturada.

Ah, a lua e sua tênue claridade,
Prateando a onda derradeira,
Viram minha lágrima primeira
Cair no seio desta divindade.

Ah, mar! Gigante adormecido,
Quebrando suave no rochedo,
Alimentas homens sem medo,
Por que ignoras meu gemido?

Seis horas. Quanta soledade!
Em pé sobre um outeiro
Diviso ao longe remando um barqueiro
Orientado pelas luzes da cidade.

Ah, mar! Meu amor cresce, floresce.
Meu coração palpitando a ti se rende,
E quem te domar pretende,
A tua sede de liberdade desconhece.
