Petals of Once Loved

I watched the petals drop
softly as butterfly wings
dancing across the air
swaying in its breeze
landing atop the wooden frame
turning into teardrops
falling down, unto the ground
tears of disappearing recollections
form a vapor of once hopeful dreams
suddenly gone out of sight
leaving no trace behind,
but what the minds imagination
draws to shape a remembrance
of times we molded into perfection
one true heart of two
longing to love and be loved
then tears began to stream from underneath
forming into a river of regret
the minds imagination kept playing
tricks on me
yet, deep inside my heart I knew that
this all came from my will to soothe
the grief with memories of what once
was real, then gone forever.
